Bret Samuel Weinstein is an American author, podcaster, and former professor of evolutionary biology. He was a faculty member at Evergreen State College from 2002 until 2017, when he resigned following a wave of campus protests concerning racial equity—an episode that thrust him into the national spotlight. Alongside his brother, Eric Weinstein, he was identified as part of the so-called "Intellectual Dark Web" in a 2018 New York Times essay by columnist Bari Weiss. Weinstein has faced criticism for promoting false claims regarding COVID-19 treatments and vaccines, as well as for disseminating misinformation about HIV/AIDS.
