It was largely joked during the 2024 election that if Rishi Sunak lost, he'd be on the first plane ticket to California to set up a new life as the next tech bro and enjoy the sun.
It seems, he is one step closer to that journey after landing himself a part time role at Stanford University.
he will work as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institute, focusing on issues including tech, global security and the economy.
This calls into question his ability to be an MP and serve his constituants appropriately, if he's jetting off to the states to also perform a job role over there. It also calls into question entirely why he's taking an unpaid role for the Americans, but still taking tax payers money in form of his salary as an MP and his top ups from being an ex prime minister.
Journalist Robert Peston asked Sunak during an interview if he was leaving for California if he lost the election, to which he stated no.
